Welcome! Namaste!

The natural method yoga studio offers group and private classes of yoga, meditation, bellydancing and other mindfullness and fitness trainings to enhance your quality of life.

dedicated to the well-being of all

The Natural Method Yoga Studio is a per-donation studio now. What this means is that all students are welcome, regardless of income. Some may not be able to afford more than pocket change per class, some maybe a dollar or a few. The studio will remain open due to the support of those that can afford to pay the full price (which is the most reasonable around) or choose to pay more than the suggested price or even make donations from time to time.

Overall, this will have a positive effect on many- those who can now obtain yoga instruction & its benefits, those that were coming will now be able to experience the magnificent energy of larger classes- a powerful, positive feeling; and the community benefits from the positive energy we generate within ourselves by practicing yoga. This is our wish.

the philosophy of the natural method

Modern lifestyle creates dis-integration of the mind & the body. We are scarcely aware if we are breathing, how we are slouching, and our mind is in five places at once, none of those places are connected to our body or physical actions in the present moment. The era of multitasking, multiple jobs, never-ending to-do lists and concepts of overacheiving has lead to a near complete separation of the mind, the body and the spirit. This results in many diseases such as diabetes, cardio-pulmonary disorders, anxiety, or depression.

The word Yoga means union, the re-union of the body, the mind and the spirit when we bring our actual awareness to the present moment as we live it. This blissful reuniting leads to acute senses, a keen connection to the body's needs, and overall calm, joy and strength. We are then able to easily care for ourselves, find balance, and let our health and happiness radiate positive influence upon the world around us.

When we are present in the moment, time slows down; colors, tastes and emotions heighten & life is more vibrant then before.

Our state of being and actions influence the well-being and perceptions of others, just as theirs influence ours. If we are in a state of stress and suffering, we will treat others unskillfully, and increase their suffering. Without sufficient practice, we will also easily be affected the negative states of others. But just as our negative states ripple out into the community, so do our positive ones, as even the smile of a complete stranger can warm our hearts and begin the transformation of an otherwise difficult day. So the practice of a mindful exercise to bring health to all layers of our being is not a luxury- in our highly populated interdependent world, it is a need and responsibility.

In many ways we can look to Nature for the lessons we need to understand to live a more fulfilling and joyful life. Nature shows us that everything is on a constant cycle of change, that a moderate path works most efficiently, and that the wellbeing of all things depends on the wellbeing of all others. Nature tells us to let go, to trust the natural rhythms, to trust the instincts of our body (not our habit energy) so that we can eat simple nourishing foods when we are hungry, stop when we are comfortably full, sleep when we are tired, move when we feel the urge, laugh, smile and take joy in each brilliant moment of sensation- from rain to wind to sunsets to bird's songs to snowfalls. Everything is a miracle, nothing is guaranteed, and life is a fleeting, flowing, masterpiece composed of all things, all sensations, all feelings, all opposites, and all lessons.

Sustainability is very important on both the individual & collective levels- only engaging in actions & practices that are able to be maintained over time are recommended. Thus, if an exercise causes heavy joint damage, it is not recommended as it cannot safely be practiced over time. If wasting natural resources is continued, it will drain the life-bestowing properties of the earth and cause famine, so it too is not recommended.

In our teachings you will find a little bit of everything-spiritual wisdom, physical alignment cues, strength, stretching, surrender, effort, focus, joy, challenge, ease, and a way to be present fully in each moment of your life. The results will speak for themselves.
